...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE WATERS...

The areas affected include...

  Central Long Island Sound...

At 624 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots and small hail. These
thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Bridgeport to
near Smithtown Bay, moving northeast at 40 knots.

Locations impacted include...
Norwalk Islands, New Haven Harbor, Smithtown Bay, Port Jefferson
Harbor, Cold Spring Harbor, Stratford Shoal, Madison Reef, Huntington
Bay, Bridgeport, and Falkner Island.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher
waves, lightning strikes, and heavy downpours. Boaters should seek
safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.

Lightning is occurring with these storms. If caught on the open water
stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal objects.
