...THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE WATERS OFF EASTERN LONG ISLAND...

The areas affected include...

  Fire Island Inlet to Moriches Inlet NY out 20 nm...
  Moriches Inlet to Montauk Point NY out 40 nm...
  Peconic and Gardiners Bays...
  Long Island South Shore Bays...

At 203 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated scattered thunderstorms 
capable of producing winds up to 30 kt. The strongest of these 
thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 7 nm SE of 
the Great South Bay to 17 nm SW of Buoy 44017, moving NE at 50 kt. 

Locations that could be impacted include... 
Shinnecock Bay, Peconic Bay, Shelter Island Sound, Westhampton 
Beach, Gardiners Bay, Shinnecock Inlet, Shelter Island, and 
Dering Harbor. 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds up to 30 kt, locally higher seas, 
and lightning strikes. Near shore boaters should seek safe harbor 
until these storms pass.
