The average daily temperature difference was less than a degree from normal for all 4 Southeast Alaskan climate sites, and it was wet for 3 out of the 4 locations. The only exception was Yakutat Airport, which was 3.73 inches below normal for the month. The other locations were either near normal(Juneau Airport) or slightly above normal(Ketchikan & Sitka Airports). The reason for this monthly liquid equivalent precipitation total distribution is that we had more Atmospheric River tracks aimed toward the southern half of the Panhandle for October than we typically see. Juneau Airport reported 1.7 inches of total snow accumulation for the month. This is 0.8 inches above normal. As for records, Juneau Airport tied their old snow accumulation record of a trace on the 17th, which was originally set in 2012. On the 20th, Juneau Airport broke its low temperature record for the day by 1 degree with 22 degrees, which was set back in 1961. On that same day, the Sitka Airport tied their low temperature record with 31 degrees that was also originally set back in 1961. On the 21st, Juneau Airport broke its low temperature record for the day by 4 degrees with 20 degrees, which was set in 2020. On the 29th, Yakutat Airport broke their daily liquid equivalent precipitation record of 2.31 inches with 3.78 inches, which was set back in 1957. Chambers $$
