...Flood Potential Outlook for river flooding and small stream 
flooding on rivers and streams in Coos, Curry, Douglas, Josephine, 
Jackson, and Siskiyou counties...
        
A series of storms will bring heavy precipitation to Oregon and 
Northern California this week. The heaviest rainfall is expected in 
Curry and Siskiyou counties where they will likely see 8 inches of 
rain through the week. Rainfall rates could briefly approach up to 
an inch per hour. There is potential for heavy rain from Tuesday 
night through Friday.

Some areas may experience periods of snowfall before turning back to 
rain. Accumulated snow at low- and mid-elevations will likely melt 
as the rain falls which would cause higher responses in creeks and 
rivers than rainfall alone.

Area small streams could begin to flood early Wednesday morning. The 
Coquille River is expected to approach minor flood stage Thursday or 
Friday.

Creeks and streams below recent burn scars will likely be muddy. 
There is also the potential for flash flooding and debris flows from 
burn scars. While the Archie Creek Fire and McKinney Fire burn scars 
are not new, they continue to be of concern during heavy rainfall 
like we expect during this event.

Use caution near flowing water. Turn around, don't drown.
