...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTED FOR THE SOUTHWEST
COASTAL PLAINS FROM MID-MORNING INTO EARLY AFTERNOON...

Increasing wind speeds will likely exceed 15 mph with higher 
gusts today, especially across the southwest quadrant of PR near 
Guanica. Meanwhile, relative humidity values will likely fall near
the 50 or even lower at Guanica. Regarding soil conditions, 
Guanica stations across southwestern Puerto Rico indicate 
favorable conditions for spreading wildfires, with KBDI values 
exceeding 650. This scenario will support an elevated fire danger 
risk, with the highest risk expected across the southwest PR 
between the late morning and early afternoon.

Fire and emergency officials should be aware that weather
conditions are becoming more conducive for the ignition and
spread of wildfires. 

Fire danger statements are issued when fire weather conditions
are approaching, but not meeting or exceeding, Red Flag Warning
criteria.
