EDT, Thursday, November 21, 2024, FOR TODAY, TONIGHT AND THE NEXT SIX (6) DAYS. THE NEXT SCHEDULED FORECAST WILL BE ISSUED AT 12:00 P.M. EDT. WARNING IN EFFECT: A near gale watch (28-33kt) is in effect for the Northern and Northwest Bahamas. Marine conditions will continue to deteriorate from north to south across the chain of islands peaking Friday. The high risk of rip currents remains in place for Northern, Northwest and Central Bahamas. There is a moderate risk of rip currents Atlantic exposed waters. GENERAL SITUATION: A cold front along with pre-frontal activity will slide into the Northern and Northwest Bahamas today ushering in moderate to strong breezes, showers and thunderstorms along the frontal boundary. The front will continue southeastwards into the Central Bahamas by late tonight then into the Southeast Bahamas by Friday. High pressure ridge will quickly build behind the front generating fresh to moderate breezes. On Saturday, winds will become lighter and stable weather will dominate across the island chain allowing for a pleasant weekend. SPECIAL WEATHER NOTES: Beachgoers and swimmers should continue to remain vigilant due to the risk of rip currents.
