The National Weather Service in Anchorage has issued a High Surf Advisory, which is in effect from 6 AM Wednesday to 6 AM AKDT Thursday. * LOCATION...Northern Kuskokwim Bay coast, especially the communities of Kwigillingok and Kongiganak. * WAVES AND SURF...Water levels are expected to rise during high tide, to 3 to 6 feet above the normal highest tide line. * TIMING...Wednesday morning through early Thursday morning, with waves and surf peaking Wednesday afternoon during high tide. * IMPACTS...High surf may inundate or move property along the shoreline. Localized beach erosion is possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A front with gale force southeasterly winds and gusts to 50 mph will develop Wednesday morning across the Kuskokwim Delta and Kuskokwim Bay, producing high surf along the coast. As the front weakens late Wednesday afternoon, winds and high surf concerns will gradually diminish through the evening and overnight hours. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Residents along the coast should move property inland or to higher ground, and monitor conditions along the coast for potential impacts.
