...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1030 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southern Connecticut, including the following 
  county, Fairfield and southeast New York, including the following 
  counties, Putnam and Westchester.

* WHEN...Until 1030 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 
  Water over roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 823 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Due to earlier excessive heavy rainfall, minor
    flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the
    advisory area.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 2 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Stamford, Norwalk, Danbury, New Canaan, Sherman, Fairfield,
    Greenwich, Westport, Ridgefield, Darien, Wilton, Brookfield,
    New Fairfield, Weston, Redding, Bedford, Easton, Armonk,
    Putnam Lake and Peach Lake.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.
