...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 830 AM EDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...A portion of west central Virginia, including the 
  following counties and independent city, Alleghany VA, Botetourt 
  and City of Covington.

* WHEN...Until 830 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying 
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 320 AM EDT, heavy rain has ended, but flooding is still
    occurring in the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain
    have fallen.
  - This includes the following streams and drainages...
    Back Creek, Big Hollow Branch, Broad Run, Blue Suck Branch,
    Brushy Lick, Back Run, Big Run, Buffalo Creek, Blue Spring
    Run, Beckner Branch, Bens Run, Allen Creek and Barbours
    Creek.
    Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is
    expected.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Alleghany, Covington, Clifton Forge, Buchanan, Troutville,
    Oriskany and Eagle Rock.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 
dangers of flooding.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding, 
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather 
Service by calling toll free at 1...8 6 6...2 1 5...4 3 2 4. Reports 
and pictures can also be shared on the National Weather Service
