...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 AM EDT THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...A portion of central Virginia, including the following 
  counties, Appomattox and Buckingham.

* WHEN...Until 800 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying 
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams 
  continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. 
  Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 449 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the warned area. Between 2.5 and 3.5 inches of
    rain have fallen.
  - This includes the following streams and drainages...
    Blackfoot Creek, Appomattox River, Bent Creek, Abbott Branch,
    Bear Branch, Cemetery Creek, Bowler Creek, Bear Creek and
    Caldwells Creek.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Appomattox, Bent Creek, Appomattox National Historic Park,
    Evergreen, Oakville, Spout Spring and Tower Hill.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.

including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather 
Service by calling toll free at 1...8 6 6...2 1 5...4 3 2 4. Reports
