...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 930 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive 
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, and southeast Virginia, 
  including the following counties and independent city, in central 
  Virginia, City of Richmond, Hanover and Henrico. In east central 
  Virginia, Charles City and New Kent. In southeast Virginia, James 
  City and York.

* WHEN...Until 930 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 
  Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is 
  imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 733 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
    flooding. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected
    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Richmond, New Kent, Williamsburg, Charles City, Talleysville,
    Roxbury, Toano, Norge, Highland Springs, Mechanicsville,
    Providence Forge, Ruthville, Adkins Store, Holdcroft, Bottoms
    Bridge, Barhamsville, East Highland Park, Sandybottom,
    Roaches Corner and Colonial Downs.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 
deaths occur in vehicles.
