...RESUSPENDED ASH FROM KATMAI-NOVARUPTA OVER KODIAK ISLAND
THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING...

Strong, northwest winds up to 40 to 50 mph across Shelikof Strait
to Kodiak Island has resuspended ash from the 1912 Katmai- 
Novarupta eruption. Haze is being observed on satellite and webcam
in the communities of Karluk and Akhiok. Ash is expected to 
settle out of the atmosphere as winds shift northerly and decrease
by Tuesday afternoon.

Those with respiratory ailments in these areas are encouraged to
avoid or reduce outdoor activity to avoid inhaling the ash. Those
in sensitive groups and with respiratory ailments are encouraged
to avoid or significantly reduce time outdoors through Tuesday
morning to reduce the amount of ash inhaled.
