A strong winter storm is expected to bring a myriad of impacts from Utqiagvik to Point Hope Sunday through early Wednesday. Impacts include: * South winds gusting up to 65 mph from Point Lay to Point Hope on Sunday and Sunday night, with higher gusts possible near Cape Lisburne. * Heavy mixed precipitation in coastal areas west of Point Lay. * Heavy snow in inland locations and east of Point Lay, especially in the higher terrain of the Brooks Range. * Possible coastal flooding on Monday through Wednesday as the storm tracks near the western Arctic Coast and winds shift to southwesterly. The area most likely to be impacted by erosion and coastal flooding is from Point Hope to Wainwright. This system will bring warmer air with it, which may result in periods of heavy mixed precipitation along the coast. $$
