A strong low pressure system will move southeast out of the Chukchi Sea and bring snow to the Western Arctic Coast beginning Tuesday morning. Snow will spread southeast to the rest of the Arctic Coast and the Brooks Range during the day on Tuesday. Snow will linger through Wednesday and through Thursday near the coast east of Utqiagvik. Storm total snow accumulations through Thursday night will range from 1-3 inches along the coast from Point Hope to Kuparuk to 3-5 inches along the coast east of Kuparuk to 4-8 inches along the Dalton Highway north of Atigun Pass. Winds will gust to around 45 mph from Point Lay to Point Hope on Tuesday evening as well as at Kaktovik on Thursday where blowing snow could cause reduced visibility. This system will also bring elevated water levels 1-2 feet above the normal high tide line from Utqiagvik to Point Hope Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. $$
