...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT PORTIONS OF NORTHEASTERN ST. JOHN
THE BAPTIST, NORTHEASTERN ORLEANS, ST. TAMMANY, EAST CENTRAL
LIVINGSTON, SOUTHERN TANGIPAHOA PARISHES IN SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA
AND HANCOCK COUNTIES THROUGH 645 PM CDT

At 618 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Waveland to 6 miles south of Madisonville.
Movement was south at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is 
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
New Orleans, Slidell, Hammond, Bay St. Louis, Covington, Waveland,
Diamondhead, Ponchatoula, Pearl River, Abita Springs, Madisonville,
Springfield, Lake Catherine, Kiln, Pearlington, Lacombe, Shoreline
Park, Stennis Space Center, Robert, and Natalbany.

This includes the following Interstates...
 Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 251 and 255, and
between mile markers 259 and 273.
 Interstate 10 in Mississippi between mile markers 1 and 18.
 Interstate 12 between mile markers 36 and 84.
 Interstate 55 in Louisiana between mile markers 12 and 31.
 Interstate 59 in Louisiana between mile markers 1 and 11.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 

These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

If on or near marine areas, get out of the water and move indoors or
inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles from
the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close
enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be
caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
