A strong cold front will bring rapidly strengthening wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph out of the northwest as it quickly sweeps through Eastern North Carolina in the next couple of hours. These strong winds will move into the coastal plain within the next hour and will reach the US 17 corridor shortly after midnight. Winds will be strong and gusty for around an hour or two before subsiding. Loose outdoor objects may be blown about, and a few downed trees with localized power outages are possible. $$
