Low pressure will continue to rapidly develop this evening and is expected to move onshore along the north Oregon coast by 10 PM Tuesday night. Latest models show this system strengthening as it moves on shore and pushes inland across northwest Oregon. Therefore a brief period of gusty southwest winds is expected along a line from Tillamook to Oregon City and southward. Southwest wind gusts will approach 40 to 50 mph for the coastal communities, with gusts up to 60 mph possible for the beaches, headlands and nearby coastal ridges. Southerly winds are also expected to increase this evening through the central and southern Willamette Valley, as well as across the Cascade foothills, where gusts are expected to approach 40 to 50 mph. Winds will likely shift westerly behind the system. Strongest winds will most likely occur between 8 PM and Midnight. The period of strongest winds will only last a few hours and will likely settle after midnight. Isolated power outages will be possible due to the gusty winds this evening. $$ Hartsock
