GOLDENDALE 1148 AM PST SAT NOV 30 2013 ...COLD WINTRY WEATHER EXPECTED EARLY NEXT WEEK... AFTER A BRIEF WARM UP THIS WEEKEND...ANOTHER SURGE OF VERY COLD AIR WILL MOVE SOUTHWARD OUT OF CANADA BEGINNING LATE MONDAY AND TUESDAY. THIS COLD AIR WILL THEN LINGER OVER THE REGION THROUGH MUCH OF NEXT WEEK. ON SUNDAY EXPECT WINDY CONDITIONS WITH SOME RAIN...ESPECIALLY IN THE MOUNTAINS. RAIN IN THE MOUNTAINS WILL THEN CHANGE TO SNOW MONDAY. SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS MAY BE POSSIBLE IN THE MOUNTAINS BEGINNING MONDAY. ARCTIC AIR WILL THEN MOVE SOUTHWARD ACROSS WASHINGTON INTO OREGON LATE MONDAY THROUGH EARLY TUESDAY...CHANGING ANY POTENTIAL LINGERING RAIN TO SNOW...EVEN AT THE LOWEST ELEVATIONS. SOME DRYING MAY OCCUR AS THE COLD AIR MOVES INTO THE REGION...SO IT IS UNCERTAIN AT THIS TIME HOW MUCH SNOW WILL FALL IN THE LOWER ELEVATIONS. HOWEVER...THE POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR THE LOWER ELEVATIONS TO EXPERIENCE THEIR FIRST MEASURABLE SNOW OF THE EARLY WINTER SEASON. THOSE PLANNING TRAVEL ON SUNDAY SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR WINDY CONDITIONS WITH AREAS OF RAIN. TRAVELERS SHOULD ALSO PLAN FOR POSSIBLE SNOW OVER THE MOUNTAIN PASSES SUNDAY NIGHT AND MONDAY. BY MONDAY EVENING THROUGH TUESDAY...WINTRY CONDITIONS MAY EXIST AREA WIDE. KEEP UP WITH THE LATEST STATEMENTS AND FORECASTS FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE ON THIS DEVELOPING WEATHER SITUATION AT WEATHER.GOV/PENDLETON. $$
