The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
  Western Newton County in southwestern Missouri...

* Until 1115 PM CDT.

* At 1039 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a
  tornado was located over Wyandotte, or 7 miles southeast of Miami,
  moving northeast at 45 mph.

  HAZARD...Tornado and ping pong ball size hail.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

  IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without 
           shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. 
           Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur.  Tree 
           damage is likely.

* Locations impacted include...
  Southern Joplin, Neosho, Seneca, Loma Linda, Leawood, Shoal Creek
  Drive, Redings Mill, Shoal Creek Estates, Cliff Village, and
  Racine.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 44 between mile markers 4 and 5, and near mile marker 7.
 Interstate 49 between mile markers 18 and 27.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.
